Adelaide to Bengaluru Flights | The Tech Corridor, Priced Properly
Bengaluru is the one Indian city Australians fly to for work as often as for family, and that changes what a good booking looks like. It is also a city where landing at 4am and staying near the office are both mistakes, and both are avoidable.

Airlines we book on this route
We quote every full-service option and tell you honestly which is the best value for your dates. We do not publish fares because they change daily and the sharpest prices are unpublished wholesale fares. Ask us for today's best price.
| Airline | Typical routing | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Singapore Airlines | Via Singapore | The backbone. A non-stop first leg from Adelaide to Changi and a direct sector into Bengaluru. Clean geometry and the fewest aircraft changes. |
| Malaysia Airlines | Via Kuala Lumpur | Frequently the sharpest fare on the corridor when allocations are open, and KL sits between Australia and south India rather than beyond it. |
| Qatar Airways | Via Doha | Adelaide has had a non-stop to Doha, which removes the domestic leg. The long way round geographically, often priced to make you think. |
| Emirates | Via Dubai | Deep network and frequent south-India timings. The relief valve when the Asian hubs tighten. |
The route that is half business and half family
Most India corridors are family corridors with some business on top. Bengaluru is the one where the split is closer to even, because the city is where Australia's technology and services companies go when they go to India.
That matters, because the two kinds of traveller want opposite things from a booking. The family wants the fewest connections, the biggest baggage allowance and a fare that reflects fixed dates booked well ahead. The business traveller wants a fare class that survives a meeting moving on Tuesday, and does not care about baggage at all.
A booking site treats them identically. We do not, and it is the single largest source of avoidable cost on this route. Tell us which one you are.
The geography is on your side here
South India is the one corridor where the hub choice is genuinely easy to reason about.
Singapore and Kuala Lumpur sit between Australia and south India. Fly Adelaide to Changi to Bengaluru and you are pointed roughly at your destination the whole way. Our Singapore Airlines page covers the backbone and our Malaysia Airlines page explains why KL is so often the sharpest fare on the corridor.
Doha and Dubai sit west of India. Flying to Bengaluru via the Gulf means overshooting your destination by a considerable margin and doubling back. Our Qatar Airways and Etihad pages are candid about that.
So the honest default on this route is an Asian hub, and the Gulf carriers have to buy their way in with fare or schedule. Frequently they do, particularly around the peaks, which is exactly why we price all four rather than assuming.
Adelaide's own advantage applies here too: a single integrated terminal means a domestic leg into a Melbourne or Sydney non-stop is a walk rather than an expedition, provided it is on the same ticket.
The 4am arrival, and why it might be a gift
A great many south India arrivals land between about two and five in the morning. Travellers see that and wince. On this route specifically, they should think again.
Bengaluru's airport sits a long way north of the city. The drive in is the real journey, and Bengaluru's traffic is not a joke: the same trip can take well over an hour in daylight and a fraction of that at four in the morning.
So the small-hours arrival has a genuine argument. Land at 4am, be at the hotel by 5, sleep. Land at 6pm and the same drive can eat two hours of your evening.
The one rule that makes it work: book the room from the night before. A room booked for Tuesday starts on Tuesday afternoon, and you are landing at 4am on Tuesday. That is either a shower and a bed or four hours in a lobby, and it is decided at the point of booking rather than at the airport.
Where you stay decides your trip
This is the Bengaluru-specific fact that costs visitors the most, and it is not about the flight at all.
The tech corridor is not the city. Whitefield, Electronic City and the outer ring road are where the campuses are, and they can be well over an hour from the centre in traffic. If your entire trip is meetings at one campus, stay near it and accept that you are not really in Bengaluru.
If your trip is anything else, do not. Indiranagar and Koramangala sit between the corridors and the centre, they have the food and the bars and the life, and they are the answer for almost every visitor who is not commuting to a specific office daily.
Our Bengaluru travel guide goes through this properly, and our Bengaluru hotels page exists mostly to stop the mistake.
The corporate fare trap
Bengaluru trips move. That is the nature of the work that takes people there, and it is why the cheapest fare on this route is so often the most expensive one.
The lowest published economy fares are non-refundable and carry change fees that can approach the value of the ticket. That is a perfectly good deal on a family trip booked around fixed leave. It is a bad deal on a business trip that depends on someone else's diary.
Run the arithmetic properly. If one trip in four changes, and a changed restrictive ticket costs most of its value, the saving on the other three has already gone. A semi-flexible fare costs a little more and considerably less across a year, and the difference only becomes visible if somebody is tracking the whole picture rather than the individual purchase.
Our corporate flight management service does exactly that, with no account fees, and it also keeps the ledger of unused ticket credits that companies routinely let expire.
Who books this route with us
Technology and services staff, moving between Adelaide's and Bengaluru's offices, needing flexible classes and same-hour rebooking when an agenda shifts.
Families visiting family, with fixed dates, heavy bags and the peak-season calendar as their whole strategy.
Students and their parents, in both directions, with the term calendar as the constraint. Our why use a travel agent guide covers why fixed-date travel benefits most from being built rather than browsed.
South India tourists, increasingly, using Bengaluru as the door to Mysuru, Hampi, Coorg and the Kerala backwaters beyond.
Booking tips for this route
- Say whether it is work or family. It changes the fare class, and the fare class is where the money is.
- Price the Asian hubs first. The geography favours them; make the Gulf carriers earn it on fare.
- Book the room from the night before if you are landing at dawn. Cheapest fix on the whole trip.
- Do not stay in the tech corridor unless the corridor is the trip.
- One ticket, always, including any domestic leg out of Adelaide.
- Consider the open jaw. Into Bengaluru, home from Kochi, and south India stops involving backtracks.
